Try to avoid using it for gaming though. The diamonds could come off every time you bang down the mouse in frustration and it won’t have good accuracy anyway. May come in handy if you’re trapped and the only way out is through a glass window that you must cut. And the diamonds could come in handy the next time you want to bribe someone.

Rocket propelled chainsaw

The humble chainsaw was my weapon of choice for quickly cutting down the strongest of opponents. It comes in especially handy when faced with a mob of zombies and other ammo is in short supply. Here is a design to turn it into a missile weapon by making it rocket-propelled.

This is one weapon design that had better come into existence before the next zombie outbreak. Unlike conventional chainsaws, this would also lessen the possibility of infected zombie blood from splattering into your eyes and mouth.

Given this use of the chainsaw results in limited ammo, I’d much rather prefer a new device. Maybe a rotating blade that you can launch, which cuts across a line of zombies and then returns to the firing apparatus. Somebody somewhere must have created it.

Grow your house from trees

Here’s an interesting concept. Save on construction costs and help the environment by growing your house out of tree trunks, tree roots and other natural elements.

It would be much slower than watching paint dry (think years, or even generations), but besides the construction savings, you’ll be saving on heating/cooling bills, be closer to nature and live in something that outlasts concrete.

Might be a good long-term investment. Start growing houses now and sell them for a fortune 20 years down the road.

Urban Cursor

Just like the Google Earth Umbrella or the Mouse Cursor Kite, the Urban Cursor can be placed anywhere and used simultaneously as a bench and as a pointer that may be captured via Google Earth.

The pixely outline is also a very nice touch. Would love to use something like this, maybe a little softer and more comfortable, at home.

Spartacus: Gods of the Arena

Spartacus: Gods of the Arena is a six-part mini series that has been announced by Starz and will air in January 2011 as a prequel to this year’s wildly successful Spartacus: Blood and Sand.

This prequel will act as a filler before the long-awaited second season resumes from where Blood and Sand left off. Production on the second season was halted after Andy Whitfield, the lead actor, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Even January 2011 seems pretty far away for the large fan-base of the series, but they’ll have to wait. Hope Andy makes a full recovery soon and we don’t have to wait too long for the second season.

The bulb is divided into segments that can be controlled independently to give that futuristic look to your house. Imagine being able to light up a small portion of the room and gradually expand the light as needed.

Wonder who thought up of dressing up a cow in a Spiderman costume. Why not a lion? Or a bull? Or even a nerdy sculpture of Bill Gates? via

Suspended hammock bed

This has to be the coolest bed I’ve ever seen. In simple words, it’s a mesh hammock that’s suspended over the lower portion of the house to create a beautiful bed. Gives it that Lara Croft touch.

Just don’t let your bed-wetting kids sleep up there. Especially when you’re expecting guests. You can also say good bye to all sorts of other private moments, unless you plan to live completely alone in this house.

Better hope the hammock is made from a strong material. Would be quite a tragedy if rats chewed through a few strands, just before you jumped on for a quick nap.

Bond is dead

For many fans of James Bond, the most famous secret agent in the world died when Pierce Brosnan was replaced by Daniel Craig, a blond, muscular and completely different character than the suave, smooth-talking agent from the novels.

For others, 007 is finally dead, not because of Craig, but due to MGM’s financial troubles. A number of projects have been canceled, among them the 23rd, yet untitled, Bond movie. Sadly, the movie hit list also included The Hobbit.

It’ll be a while before anyone revives the franchise, which has spanned across half a century. Hopefully, whenever it is revived, Craig won’t be an option.

How movie vampires rank

Here is an extremely useful scale to see how dark, macho, pink and/or homo a movie vampire is. As you may have guessed, the Twilight lot is on the top right extreme. i.e. Not macho or dark at all. Quite shameful for a vampire if you ask me.

Not surprisingly, Blade is one of the most macho vampires to date, though he is unable to match Nosferatu when it comes to unadulterated darkness. I wonder where Count Duckula would be. Probably somewhere near Twilight.
