Weird lamb girls photo

This is one weird photograph. What in the world could they have been trying to portray? Could be some protest of the strange sort, but can also be an advertisement shoot for wool products.

I can’t think of a single explanation for such a composition that would make sense. Can you?

Love the scenery though. The green is great on the eyes.

Fairytales come to life

Here are some beautiful pictures of various scenes from fairytales and folklore. The exquisite photo shoots bring to life such story characters as Snow White, Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood.

The use of colors, lots of pale and white with a bit of red or other brighter shades thrown in, gives a magical feel to the real-life sets.

Taktsang monestary

The Taktsang Dzong, or Taktsang Monestary, is situated on a ledge on the side of a steep mountain in Bhutan. The low-lying clouds, the scenery and the design of the actual building are something right out of a fairy tale.

Must take a lot of guts to get to such a remote place and then to capture the full majestic view on camera.

Greatest nature photographs

Christie’s is having their first “Green Auction” in which they are featuring 40 nature photographs, including this one from the Galapagos Islands, where a number of Galapagos Tortoises have gathered for a dawn celebration of some sort.

Other favorites include a herd of elephants reflected in a pool and a pair of polar bears slugging it out in a slow storm. Would love to see all 40 photos.

It’s these kind of photos that make one want to switch everything off, grab the trusty camera and just go out into the wild for a few years.

Life of the little people

Most of us are blessed with decent-sized bodies and live our lives quite comfortably. But have you ever wondered what life is like for the little people? And we’re not talking about midgets here.

These tiny people are at most a couple of inches tall, caught here in various everyday situations like rowing a boat in a puddle or hanging clothes out to dry.

The little people blog has some fine examples of macro photography of various miniature figures and are enough to warrant an investment in a state-of-the-art macro lens. Blogging + photography are not hobbies that are light on the pocket.

Detergent ad by Simon Danaher

Here’s another cool advertisement, this time for a detergent, by Simon Danaher. Where he got all these football players in one place is still a mystery. The poor guys in red must have really regretted choosing that color.

Photo that looks painted

If you thought the paintings that look like real photos were impressive, you will love this photograph of a girl with paint makeup that makes her look like a part of a painting.

The shot is composed so well that you have to look pretty closely to realize that it is in fact a photo. A fake painting you might call it.

I wonder if there’s an actual job that requires you to paint people for shots like this. A model painter maybe.

Saddam’s private photos

Slate is featuring a collection of photos from Saddam’s private photo album. Photos like this one where he appears as some sort of a mafioso (seems he was a big Godfather fan).

The late Iraqi dictator was overthrown by the US invasion and subsequently hanged for crimes against humanity. The album gives us an insight into his personal life. (via)

Beautiful depiction of a legion of cupids (Eros for all you Greeks) casting their missiles for the sake of love.

Explaining the unexplainable

This was one of many inspirational posters and was titled “UNEXPLAINABLE. This picture cannot be explained”. We at Xerxy, never shy away from a challenge, but try as we may, we couldn’t come up with an explanation.
