Vintage Camera Nightlights

Flickr user Jason Hull has been converting plastic film cameras from the 50′s & 60′s into wonderful nightlights.

He only modifies the mass-produced type that aren’t rare and can easily be found at flea markets or lying around the house. Beautiful stuff.

Paracord Camera Wrist Strap

Paracord is pretty amazing stuff. It won’t rot or suffer from mildew and can come in handy in case of emergencies. Made with Commercial Type III 550 Parachute Cord, this wrist strap for cameras is elegant, simple and very practical.

Easily adjustable for various wrist sizes, though may need something more robust for larger cameras like SLRs. We’ve made belts, straps and wrist bands out of paracord. Would be a fun project to make a nice SLR strap.

I can attest to this. 9 out of 10 people I know that own SLR cameras haven’t a clue how to use it. They would be better off with a compact point-and-shoot.

Without getting into a Canon vs Nikon war, I wonder which category we youngsters with a Canon SLR are in? In my case, I’ve invested in a bunch of lenses and other gear, as well as studying all of the basics. via

Legendary Nagasaki arch

An arch that survived an atomic blast, as well as a much more destructive force of nature, a tsunami that followed a large earthquake. It must be made out of some special alien material to have withstood such forces.

The problem is, both photos may look like that of the same arch, but they’re actually two different arches on opposite sides of Japan (as described here).

Holy crap. That means the aliens are everywhere and who knows how many other materials of alien origin we’re using.

“Henry Hargreaves‘ introduction to the photography industry began in front of the camera as he was the pin-up boy for such revered fashion houses as Prada, YSL, Jil Sander and others and worked with the top photographers in the game. Four years ago, Hargreaves settled in New York and began work out of his studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn shooting fashion and still life for clients such as Ralph Lauren, New York Magazine, GQ, NYLON, Boucheron, Marie Claire and others. This work is from his Food of the Rainbow series which was styled by Lisa Edsalv.”

I’ve seen ice cream in such a wide and brilliant range of colors, but didn’t think we could have spaghetti, pancakes and even a burger in the shades of the rainbow.

Amazing cloud phenomenon

What a weird and beautiful cloud phenomenon, captured in this amazing ultra-wide angle shot. Looks like the start of a tornado or a remnant of a hurricane.

Not really sure where the photo was taken and what this unusual occurrence is, but would really love to find out more.

Extreme rock climbing photo

Taken by David Clifford, this is an amazing shot of Jessa Younker climbing the overhang at Poda Island, Thailand, just above the Andaman Sea.

One can climb such a rock using the stalactites jutting out from the limestone. The ability to do it without a harness is an added bonus.
