Rubik’s Cubes have a number of uses, besides keeping us amused, and come in some very creative forms. Here they are used to create a giant pixel portrait. link

Astonishing watermelon carvings
Fruit and vegetable carving is an interesting art that can produce some amazing results, while wasting food that could feed a few hungry people.
Watermelons produce some of the best fruit carvings, thanks to their size, ease in carving and the harmony between its green, red and pink colored parts.

Beautiful flowers cut out of watermelons

No, not a Ming vase. This one’s made out of pure watermelon

Roses and their leaves carved out of a single watermelon

A bouquet basket of a giant pink watermelon flower

Here is a whole assortment of watermelons, carved to look like flowers or delicious desserts

Now we know what the death star was made of and why it was so easy to destroy. Must have kept the Ewoks fed for years afterwards

How about turtle dessert? The berries make it look delicious

5 unusual restaurants around the world
You already know about the amazing Dinner in the Sky service. Here are five more unusual and some downright disgusting restaurants from around the world.
Maldives Underwater Restaurant
We recently posted about an underwater honeymoon hotel suite which has been temporarily converted from a restaurant on the hotel’s anniversary.
Enjoying a meal deep under the ocean with all sorts of marine life passing by above you is just a dream for many of us. Something straight out of Captain Nemo’s diary.
However, this breathtaking experience is all yours at the Underwater Restaurant in Maldives, where you can eat beneath five meters of Indian Ocean. What an experience it must be. (source).
Ninja Restaurant
If you are a fan of Ninjas (or just hate pirates a lot), then the Ninja New York may be the thing for you. You’ll need to choose between a boring old walkway or a longer, interesting path to take to get to your seating place. Waiters dressed as ninjas will serve you and also entertain you with magic tricks. Sounds a little cheesy? It is, as this detailed review demonstrates. Only recommended if you have money to burn.
The Japanese Cannibal Banquet
And for those with cannibalistic tendencies, Japan is the place to go. Most people may have heard of the strange sushi served on a woman phenomenon. But it gets weirder. This restaurant actually serves you an edible replica of a corpse that you can sink your teeth into. Comes with food items disguised as flowing blood, intestines, organs and what not. I’ll pass, thank you. link.
The Modern Toilet
Moving on to the truly disgusting, The Modern Toilet is a toilet-themed restaurant in Taiwan. You sit on a toilet seat to eat. Your food is served in a toilet bowl and your dessert is made to look like your waste output. Not a chance.
Pitch Black
If eating under water or sitting on a toilet seat doesn’t appeal to you, maybe doing it in total darkness will. The Pitch Black restaurant in Beijing is painted black and filters out all light so that you can focus on the taste, texture, aroma and possibly the sound of your food. How frustrating it must be.
All light sources or luminous objects, such as watches and mobiles, are prohibited and the only people who can see anything are the waiters and waitresses who serve you using night vision goggles. Besides providing a unique dining experience, the restaurant also highlights the plight of the visually impaired.
Maybe the toilet restaurant above should take a hint from these guys and block your olfactory senses when you enter.
There you have it. Some of the weirdest restaurants in the world. So, if you happen to know of any more novel eating places, please share. If we get a good enough list, we’ll be glad to include another post on the topic.
Giant LED flashlight you can build at home
We have often been tempted to buy a whole bunch of those cheap flashlight cigarette lighters and use their LEDs to make a larger torch light. This guy has taken this to the limit by using an impressive 500 LED lights.
The massive 50W flashlight has quite a few switches and its brightness can be adjusted according to the requirement. Level 1 might be for finding your way around in low light conditions. Level 10 can punch a hole in thick metal (probably not). Link
Protect yourself with the anti-theft purse
You’re likely to be harassed by security personnel. You may even be shot on site. But nobody will dare try to mug you if you’re carrying one of these purses around.
Designed by James Platt, this purse, known as The Protector (we just like to call it The Gun Bag), can even charge your cell phone, though be prepared to spend $579 on it. Link
Zebra dreams color painting
This wonderful painting really makes someone’s dreams come to life through color. Beautiful piece of art. link
Mirror man suit
Designer Gustav Troger has created The Collector, a suit made out of lots of mirrors of varying shapes and sizes. The “mirror man” was seen, or unseen, in LA and made for an amazing sight.
We like to believe that it was actually a crude prototype of an invisibility cloak. Only they forgot that the light should pass through instead of being reflected back.
Still, it could be a basis for some sort of reflective camouflage that breaks up a person’s shape and outline. It could also be used someday to deflect frickin lasers. via
