Artist Bruce Munro is planning his next masterpiece; a sea made from a million CDs, dubbed the CD Sea. The material will come from people who will send him their discarded disks.
In case you’ve forgotten, compact disks used to be the common way to store and transfer audio, video and data before USBs and online data transfer became more viable. We all have a whole bunch of them lying around, though have no idea what to do with them.
Personally, I would have preferred to make a solar oven out of these or if I had a million of them available, use the CDs to focus the sun’s rays onto a boiler and create a massive power plant. When the CDs wear out, just replace them with new ones coming in.
