Imagine being able to accurately measure anything that’s smaller than a foot, just by using your arm. Anytime, anywhere (unless you’ve been kidnapped and have your hands tied, but what would you need to measure in such a situation?). Get a ruler tattooed on your arm and you’re all set.
Traditional tattooing probably isn’t accurate enough for this so it’s likely done via computerized laser etching. Oooh. Sounds a little too painful and scary, but think of all the benefits.
Off course, even if you did manage to get a perfect tattoo, it may eventually lose its accuracy as you age, weaken or grow fat. And imagine what an idiot you might feel like if you got the wrong measurement system printed. A metric ruler won’t do you much good in New York.
