The bullet ant is supposed to have the most painful bite in the animal kingdom and has some painful rituals associated with it.

The most painful bite part is a little doubtful. I mean what about being ripped apart by a gator’s jaws or a lion? Maybe they meant a bite that doesn’t kill or dismember you.

In any case, the pain is not to be taken lightly. The ant gets its name from the the intensity of the pain which victims describe as being similar to that from a gunshot wound (poor people were both shot and bitten).

The most weird thing associated with the ants are the rituals that a Brazilian tribe practices.

To be regarded as a man, boys must let themselves be bitten by hundreds of these and suffer excruciating pain. How lovely is that?
