Matchstick art
This gorilla is made entirely of tens of thousands of matchsticks by the artist David Mach (who probably started playing with matches after the other kids kept making fun of his name).
How impressive is this gorilla head? I didn’t even know there were so many different colors available for the humble head on a matchstick.
If you’re looking to own one of these cool babies, be ready to shell out between £20,000 and £35,000 for each sculpture, which is probably a lot more than the real thing.
Just be extra careful where you place it and who you allow near it.
Over the fireplace or near other sources of heat are out, although there have been customers who purposefully set the pieces on fire. Smokers should also be kept well away.
Other works of art that are available include a polar bear (ooh, gotta get me some of those white matchsticks) and the head of a moose.

WOW…
Beautiful unique work. When I read in the story about “playing with matches and kids” it reminded me of the safety issue. Tell all the kids that “the only safe way of playing with matches” can be seen on this website.
