Paintings that look like real photos

Girl painted looks real

At first glance, you probably would have looked at this picture and thought “nice photo” or “those earrings look just like mine” or “where can I get her number?”.

You’d be wrong. This amazing image is actually a painting. A work of art. It’s probably based on a real person, but it is very fake.

It wasn’t captured by the lens of some camera, but crafted by the delicate hand of an artist. And there are lots more where this one came from.

What makes these so realistic? Is it software or the skill of an artist? Why couldn’t other master artists do the same? If only they had such precision in the olden days. We may have known what Jesus truly looked like, instead of speculating based on the Turin shroud and weird movies from the 70s.

I guess that makes my new camera quite redundant. Now when do we see such detail in 3D?
