Fake Israeli oranges in Iran

Jaffa orange

Oranges found on sale in Iran caused a controversy when it was discovered that they were branded as the world-famous Jaffa oranges, a product of Israel.

This was quite a concern for the authorities since commercial activities between Iran and Israel are completely banned.

The irony was revealed when further investigation found the oranges to originate from China instead of Israel. (Link)

It seems that Chinese replicas don’t just stop at watches, handbags or electronic goods. They’ve mastered the art of cloning fruits as well (no, not the one in the photo).

Wonder they don’t put their efforts in replicating oil.

Insecure Sarkozy

Sarkozy

If a popular president of a developed country such as France, who has a partner as hot as Bruni, can be so insecure about himself, the rest of us can’t be expected to be confident in anything.

Best job in the world winner

Ben Southall has the best job in the world

The lucky winner for the best job in the world contest has been selected and it is Ben Southall from Southern England.

Ben was one of the 16 finalists who were invited to Australia from the roughly 4,000 candidates that applied for the job.

The idea to offer the best job in the world was part of a campaign to generate publicity for the recession-hit tourism industry.

The stunt was so wildly successful that the website for the contest crashed after launch and it is estimated that an equivalent of $110 million in publicity has been generated.

Enjoy the work (and play) Ben.

Happy face spider

Theridion Grallator

The Theridion Grallator, also known as the Happy Face Spider, is an actual spider with patterns that make it look a lot like a happy face.

At first glance, we were pretty sure that it was fake. However it is an actual spider that is unique to the Hawaiian islands.

Where the Devil dwells

Devils tower

One thing is clear from this photo. The devil lives in a tower of delicious, flaky chocolate. And who can resist delicious flaky chocolate? We’re doomed aren’t we?

It is actually a “monolithic igneous intrusion” (hmm, I don’t think that should be said in front of children) in Wyoming and the USA’s first national monument.

Click to see more amazing photos of the devil’s dwellings and be awed by the things nature can do. There must be so many other such wonders, yet to be discovered by man.

Skydive elevator

Skydive elevator

This is a cool advertisement by the Swiss Skydive parachute school that they placed in the elevators of multistory buildings. Must have shocked a number of people when they first saw it.
