Solar boat model

The world’s largest solar boat is currently under construction in Germany and will one day bring the writings of Jules Verne to life.

Planet Solar is a $13 million catamaran that will circle the globe in approximately 120 days on nothing but clean, solar energy.

The project is being funder by the Swiss and is due to be completed and off on its adventure sometime next year. It bears a number of similarities to French writer Jules Verne’s Around the World in 80 Days and other great works.

Once this succeeds, we’d love to see more travel utilizing such clean energy solutions. Airships powered by the sun anyone?
