Cow urine soft drink

Happy cow

An Hindu nationalist group from India has announced plans to launch a soft drink made out of cow urine which will compete with international brands.

The Gau Jal, or cow water, will be free from toxins present in other soft drinks such as Coke and Pepsi, claims Mr. Om Prakash, the head of the department.

According to him, it will also provide health benefits, have a great taste and you won’t have to be bothered by the usual smell of urine. It should give the other brands a run for their money and may even become a major export.

Not to burst the bubble, but the Indians are a little too late to the party as the Japanese have already cornered that market segment.

Calpis

I have often enjoyed the smooth, fruity taste of Calpis, one of the more infamous Japanese drinks. However, it doesn’t have much in common with Gau Jal besides the descriptive name.

Though I’ll hold back on trying the Indian variety, I’m happy for all the cows. I’m sure they’ll gladly part with the precious stuff and be pleased to see more than just their milk in others.
