Giant ice balls

Just in via BoingBoing: Mysterious ice balls, some over a meter in diameter, have been sighted in London’s Victoria Park.

Though the simple explanation is that somebody rolled the fallen snow up into huge balls, the fact that there are about 300 of them around the park is a bit hard to explain.

The popular theory, that these are natural and somehow related to global warming, is also more than a little far-fetched. Maybe there is an ice gang going around rolling up balls (ice balls that is) at night.

  1. Goodness gracious great balls of …. ice?

  2. maybe there was a giant diarrhoead snowman in town?

    • That would leave more of a slush than giant balls, wouldn’t it? Unless the drops rolled around for a while and turned big.
