Shoe tossing the latest fad

7 February 2009 520 views One Comment

Court shoeHurling your shoes at important people to make your point is becoming really popular and has just been attempted for the third time within the last couple of months.

This time, the target was the Israeli ambassador to Sweden and this time, one of the throwers (yes, there were two of them) actually managed to score a point by hitting the target.

The current trend was started by Muntader Al-Zaidi late last year when he threw his shoes at George W. Bush during a press conference in Iraq. Last week, a protester threw a shoe at the Chinese Prime Minister as he was addressing a gathering at Cambridge University, though missed him and the shoe fell a few feet away.

We hope that next time, somebody has the mind to use something a little more interesting, like the high-heeled shoe pictured here or even flip flops. Any guesses on who the next target will be?
